Refer & Earn

How the referral program actually works.

During the founding period, referrals earn banked free months plus permanent status. Here's the plain-English version.

You're inviting during the founding period. Everything on Food Finder is free right now, so credits don't apply to a bill yet — but they still count. Each qualified referral banks a future free month, moves you up the tier ladder, and unlocks status that sticks with your account for life. When paid Finder pricing kicks in, banked months apply automatically before you're ever charged.

What has to happen for a referral to count

Simpler during founding — no payment required.

  1. 1

Your neighbor signs up with your invite link.

Your personal link lives on your account page. When someone clicks it and creates an account, we tag them as your referral. If they sign up without your link, we can't attribute it later.

  2. 2

They keep their account active for 30 days.

During the founding period, that's all it takes. Once 30 days pass and their account is still active, the referral qualifies automatically and starts counting toward your tier and banked months.

  3. 3

(After founding ends) They pay and stay 90 days.

Once paid Finder pricing begins, the rule reverts to the standard one — referred neighbors need to pay their first bill and stay subscribed for 90 days for the referral to qualify.

Referral ladder

Every 5 qualified referrals = 1 banked month + a status boost.

Banked months stack with no cap. Tier status is permanent — once you hit a tier during founding, it's yours for life.

5Neighbor
+1 banked month + leaderboard eligibility + founding rate locked for life
15Connector
+3 banked months + priority support
30Community Builder
+6 banked months + early access to new features
50Movement Maker
+12 banked months + a physical thank-you from us
100Founding Ambassador
+24 banked months + permanent Ambassador badge, called out on the About page

Banked months apply automatically when paid Finder pricing begins. They have no cash value, are non-transferable, and expire 12 months after they're applied to your account.

What counts, and what doesn't.

Counts as qualified
  • Signed up with your personal invite link
  • Kept their account active for 30 days (founding period)
  • After founding: paid their first bill and stayed 90 days
  • Real neighbor, real email, one account per person
Doesn't count
  • Sending emails or texts without your invite link
  • Neighbor deletes their account inside the first 30 days
  • Referring yourself (second account, family payment method)
  • Disposable / throwaway email addresses
  • Duplicate signups from the same payment method
  • Anything Food Finder LLC identifies as fraud or gaming

If your referral cancels after the credit is issued

Your credit stays. You did the work of bringing that neighbor in — a later cancel doesn't claw it back.

Why 30 days now, 90 days later?

During the founding period, we can't ask for a paid conversion — nobody pays yet. So the fair measure is: did the neighbor stick around long enough to actually use the platform? 30 days of active account is that signal. Once paid Finder pricing begins, the standard 90-day paid rule takes over — it keeps the free months we hand out backed by real subscriptions, so we can keep giving them out.
