Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Food Finder LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("Food Finder," "we") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our platform. By using Food Finder you consent to the practices described here.

Payments note. Food Finder does not currently charge any subscription fees. The payment-related practices below (Stripe processing, payment tokens, subscription outcomes) only apply if and when paid Finder subscriptions are activated in the future — see Terms of Use §5 for the current billing status and planned rollout.

1. Information we collect

You provide

  • Account info: name, email, password, optional profile photo.
  • Listings & messages: photos, descriptions, general location of food, conversations with other users.
  • Payment info (only if you subscribe in the future): processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers — we would receive only a token and last four digits.
  • Support requests: any info you send us by email or in-app.

Collected automatically

  • Device, browser, IP address, approximate location, pages visited, referring URL, timestamps.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — see our Cookie Policy.

From third parties

  • Google (if you sign in with Google): your name, email, and profile picture.
  • Stripe (only if paid subscriptions become active in the future): subscription status, payment outcomes, fraud signals.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile: a privacy-friendly CAPTCHA used on sign-up and other sensitive forms to block bots. Turnstile receives basic browser signals (no fingerprinting, no advertising data) and returns a pass/fail token. See Cloudflare's privacy policy. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any third-party advertising or session-replay trackers.

2. How we use information

  • Operate, maintain, and secure the platform.
  • Create and manage your account, verify your email, prevent fraud.
  • Process subscriptions and send transactional emails (receipts, security alerts).
  • Show you relevant listings and let you communicate with other users.
  • Improve features, debug, and analyze usage (with consent where required).
  • Comply with law, enforce our Terms, and protect users.

3. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

We process personal data under contract necessity (to provide the service), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, product improvement), consent (analytics cookies, marketing), and legal obligation (tax, accounting).

4. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Service providers who help us run the platform (hosting, email, analytics, customer support, fraud detection) under written confidentiality and data-protection terms.
  • Stripe, our payment processor, governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
  • Other users, to the extent you choose to make information visible (e.g. your display name and listings).
  • Authorities when required by law, subpoena, or to protect rights, safety, and property.
  • Successors in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

5. Retention

We keep account and transactional records as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations (typically up to 7 years for financial records). You may request deletion at any time (subject to legal retention rules).

Listings and listing photos are handled differently. Every listing has a fixed 20-day active window from the moment it's posted. If it hasn't been marked picked up and hasn't been refreshed or edited within those 20 days, the listing and its photos are automatically and permanently deleted — we do not archive or retain a copy. Tapping Refresh or editing the listing resets the 20 days. This keeps our database light and ensures old food is not represented as current.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and similar laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. California residents have the right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — Food Finder does not sell personal information. To exercise any right, email legal@foodfinder.org. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. Children

The platform is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it. Users 13–17 must use the platform with verifiable parental consent and supervision.

8. Security

We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards (encryption in transit, access controls, audit logs). No system is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.

9. International transfers

We are based in the United States. If you access the platform from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US, which may have different data protection rules than your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated with a new "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, in-app notice.

11. Governing law

This Privacy Policy and any dispute relating to it are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.
